The Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery is Southeast Michigan's unique location for peace and justice related art exhibits as well as a location for a number of peace-related events. The Gallery also has a gift shop featuring books, cards and artwork that can be purchased.

Swords into Plowshares Annual Memorial Scholarship Awards Applications Taken Until July 1st

The Gallery has established annual scholarships for college students who are pursuing studies that support the SIP mission statement ( The deadline is July 1st, 2020.


The requirements of the scholarship are as follows…


  • Students must be accepted into a College program (either undergraduate or graduate) and pursuing studies that would support working for peace and justice.


  • The recipient may use the scholarship funds for tuition at a college or university. All scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university.


  • This is a one-year scholarship. However, a recipient who is not on academic probation and is making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree may reapply for scholarship renewal. However, priority will be given to new applicants. The student is required to submit a completed application for each year the scholarship is requested.

Project Noah Feeding The Homeless at CUMC

The NOAH Project (Networking, Organizing, and Advocating for the Homeless) at Central United Methodist Church (CUMC - upstairs from the Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center & Gallery) continues to feed the homeless and continue to seek housing for their clients.  Bag lunches and hand washing stations are situated in the church lobby from 10 a.m.- Noon Monday through Thursday.  If you need a meal please stop by.  Or if you would like to help with this humanitarian program, please call Jinnia at the NOAH Project 313-964-5422 Ext 120. Swords Into Plowshares Gift Shop  

While visiting the Swords into Plowshares Peace Center & Gallery, be sure to visit our Gift Shop!  We have a variety of peace and justice items available for socially and environmentally conscious buying. 

We offer items from 3rd world countries, non-profit entrepreneurs, upcoming artists, books from area authors, and a wide array of nicely priced items to help promote 'peace in action' gifts for the upcoming generation. The Gift Shop is open during Peace Center & Gallery’s operating hours (generally 1-5pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday).


Box Up Your Used Books

Donate them to the small FREE lending library that is installed outside Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery. Just bring them by during normal SIP Gallery hours. Thanks!

Visions Of Peace Exhibit

The mission of the exhibit is to transform the world by encouraging peace and human rights through art education based on the United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child ( Artists are youth ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.
